Access tokens ensure a proper connection between Communications Control and the connected channels. If one of your access tokens has expired, no posts can be published on the corresponding channels until the token has been renewed.
An overview of the topics of this article:
Refreshing access tokens
You can only renew the access tokens of your channels if you are registered in Communications Control as a manager or admin with the corresponding rights. If this is not the case, contact a person with the appropriate rights. If you are renewing the access token for Facebook or LinkedIn, certain rights must be available on the part of the platform in order to be able to perform this step. You must, therefore, be the editor or admin of the page.
If you have all the necessary rights, follow this path: Team Administration Content Settings Channels.
Here, you will see all linked channels. If the access token of a channel has expired, it will be marked with a yellow or pink warning triangle. Renew all channels next to which such a warning triangle is shown.
To renew the access token, proceed as follows:
Click on the warning triangle next to the channel. This opens the channel settings. Now click on the button Renew Access Token and confirm the message in the next window. Then, save your settings and repeat the steps for all channels with a warning triangle.
After the access token has been renewed, the yellow or pink warning triangle next to the channel will disappear - in this view as well as in all other views in Communications Control.
Exception: Generating a Staffbase access token
In order to be able to publish content via Communications Control on Staffbase, you must first generate an access token or API token. This is used to link the two systems.
The token generation is done in Staffbase and proceeds as follows:
-
In the Experience Studio, navigate to API Access under Settings.
-
Click on "Create API token".
-
Assign a title to the API token.
-
In the Access Level field, select "Administrative Access".
-
Finally, click "Create".
-
In the general settings in " Visibility in the app", enter the Communications Control API token you created under the option "For selected users, groups or API tokens" as well as in the item "Editors".
Now, you must submit the created access or API token to Communications Control.
To do this, proceed as follows:
-
Copy the just created token in Staffbase (under Experience Studio Settings API Access).
-
Open the channel settings in Communications Control (team administration) content settings channels).
-
Click the pink plus button and select the channel "Staffbase".
-
Paste the Staffbase access token you copied in step 1 into the field.
-
Enter the URL of your Staffbase organization within the field "App URL". The specific URL can be found by opening Staffbase in your browser and copying the main part.
-
In the new field that appears, select all the Staffbase channels for which you want to enable the auto-publish feature.
-
Finally, click "Save."
Now you can auto-publish content for Staffbase via Communications Control.
