Staffbase offers different types of groups to help you organize users by shared attributes such as location, job role, or interests.
Open groups are a great opportunity to support interest groups, provide location-based information, or promote transparency across your company. Users can join or leave an open group at any time. This allows users to personalize their app or intranet while saving you user management efforts.
To keep content relevant, you can set visibility restrictions for each open group. Only users who meet the defined visibility criteria can view and join the group.
For example, if your organization has multiple open groups for location-based community activities, you can restrict each group’s visibility to specific locations. This ensures that users only see groups relevant to them, preventing information overload and keeping their experience focused.
- In the Studio, navigate to Users > Groups > the open group you want to customize.
- Under the Settings tab, navigate to Groups Overview Settings.
- Adjust the toggle to activate the Show group in Group overview.
The group is displayed in the My Groups section for relevant users. - In the Group Link, enter a landing page or news channel link so users can easily access the group's content.
- Under Custom Group Card, configure the group icon:
- Standard: To choose an icon from the predefined list.
- Custom: To upload a custom icon image.
- Upload a group image using one of the following methods:
- Select a file from your device.
- Drag and drop an image file.
- Click Save.
You have created an open group. You can now edit the group setting and add members to the group manually.
