Open groups are a great opportunity to support interest groups, provide location based information, or promote transparency across your company. Users can subscribe and unsubscribe freely to the group content via the open group chooser. This allows users to personalize their app, while saving you user management efforts.
- In the Studio, navigate to User Settings > User groups.
- Click Create group.
A dialog to create a user group opens.
- Provide a name for your group.
- Select the type Open group from the dropdown menu.
- Select the desired visibility from the dropdown menu.
If you restrict the visibility of a group, only users within the defined visibility will be able to subscribe. This is useful if you have a large number of open groups. Restricting the visibility of an open group, for example, by relevant location, ensures that the group is only visible to people at that location. - Click Create.
You have created an open group. You can now edit the group setting and add members manually to the group.
Note that open groups cannot be pre-filled. You can add users manually and the users themselves can choose to subscribe via the open group chooser.
