You can use an RSS feed to display content from external websites in your Staffbase platform. They can be used in the Article or Updates news channel types. RSS feeds can be their own standalone news channels or can be used together with your organization’s own content.
When new content is available in an RSS feed, it is transferred to the news channel inside Staffbase. The update takes place on an hourly basis. RSS feeds do not include media from external websites, such as images and videos. They can only display in one language based on the source.
The RSS feed cannot be larger than 300 KB. The script header must include the language, title, and publication date. The URL will be rejected if the source is larger than 300 KB or does not have those attributes. If your feed does not work, you can use a feed validation tool to confirm the URL attributes or reach out to the source creator.
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > News and then to the channel to which you want to add an RSS feed.
- Click the gear wheel to open the settings.
The settings page of the channel opens. - Navigate to Plugin settings: Channel > Sources.
- Click Add source.
The Add source dialog opens. - Provide a source URL and source name.
- Click Add.
You have added an RSS feed to the news channel. Text content from the external website will be transferred to the channel automatically.
