News allows audience-specific publishing of dynamic content in the Staffbase App and Intranet. It is organized into a three-layered system of news page, channel, and post.
Within a channel, managing editors can customize the default settings for all individual news posts. These settings serve as the base configuration for all posts created within the channel. Changes to channel settings apply only to posts created after the changes are saved. Previously published posts remain unchanged. Defaults can only be set in the channel settings and cannot be overridden within an individual post.
When a specific setting is set as allowed, news contributors can activate or deactivate it, as needed.
Layout
In article channels, you can choose between three different layouts to display articles in the news feed. Each layout supports different use cases.
Channel Features
You can define the defaults for social interactions and publication notifications in the plugin channel settings. These features include:
Allows users to comment on a post. Comments are visible to all users with access to the post. They encourage engagement and transform top-down communication into an interactive one.
Allows users to react to a post with a single click. Reactions are visible to all users with access to the post. They are a useful tool to quickly gauge user reactions, give recognition to the author, and identify trends in the organization.
Requires users to confirm that they have read and understood the post. Typically used for important mandatory information to help ensure the content has been consumed.
Allows users to instantly see that a post is important, via a badge at the top of the post. This makes it more prominent on the news feed.
Allows users to quickly share the post internally with coworkers or externally via specific platforms.
Sends users a notification directly to their Employee App on their mobile device.
Sends users a notification via email if users have their email address entered for their account.
Display Author
You can configure the post author to display the author's name at the end of a news post.
Associated News Pages
News pages are a collection of news channels. A news page can contain any number of channels, and you can link a channel to any number of news pages.
Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs help users to understand their location within the platform. They provide a navigation path that allows users to move easily between locations within the platform.
Sources (RSS feed)
You can use an RSS feed to display content from external websites in your Staffbase platform. They can be used in the Articleor Updates news channel types. RSS feeds can function as standalone news channels or be used together with your organization’s own news content.
