User groups are at the core of the Staffbase platform. They allow you to cluster users with similarities, such as users in the same office location, department, or with similar interests, and target content that specifically caters to these similarities.
The Groups overview page in the Studio provides administrators and group administrators with a centralized and organized view of all groups on the platform. Groups are categorized by type for better navigation and management.
Staffbase introduces enhanced groups management in place of the existing groups management. This article provides an overview of the new groups management, its benefits, and how to get started.

New Groups Release
The new Groups Management is currently available as a beta version. It will be automatically rolled out to you on December 11 with the Q4 2025 release. To familiarize yourself with the new Groups Management, refer to Getting Started With Groups Management.
If you want to explore the new groups management before its official release, contact Staffbase Support or your Customer Success Manager to activate it in advance.
If you need more time to prepare for the transition, you can postpone the automatic rollout until January 31, 2026.
Benefits of Groups Management
Intuitive Group Builder
Create and edit groups easily with an intuitive group builder designed for efficiency. Its streamlined interface helps you manage even the most complex group configurations with confidence and speed.
Advanced Logic
Build precise, rule-based groups with flexible include and exclude logic. You can also manually add or remove individual users from conditional groups, giving you complete control over group membership, even when users do not meet the defined conditional criteria.
Simplified Management
Manage all group tasks from a single overview page to save time and reduce manual effort. You can edit, delete, and duplicate groups and manage memberships directly. Additionally, bulk actions, such as adding members via CSV, make it easy to onboard large teams or update open and manual groups at scale.
