Comment moderation helps you ensure that content complies with your platform guidelines, and that all users feel safe. It is essential that this process is as transparent as possible, and that important information is retained.

When removing a comment, you have two options to choose from:

• Remove Comment
  When you remove a comment, a placeholder is displayed instead of the comment, informing users that the comment has been removed. With this choice, the thread under the removed comment is preserved. Other users can still reply to the deleted comment, but will no longer see who wrote it or any information about likes. The original comment is then only visible to channel editors, and can be restored at any time.
• Move Comment to Trash
  When you move the comment to the trash, the comment and all other comments in the thread are removed. In this case, no placeholder is displayed to indicate that it has been removed. After 30 days the comment is permanently removed from the trash and cannot be restored.

Comments can be removed from:

• The comment overview in the Studio
• Inside the news post

Removing a Comment Via the Comments Overview 

1. In the Studio, navigate to Content > System > Comments.
2. In the Comments overview, navigate to the comment you want to remove. 
3. Click Remove.
   
   
   
   A confirmation dialog to remove the comment opens.
4. Select whether you want to remove the comment or whether it should be moved to the trash. 
5. Click Confirm.
   You have removed the comment. The comment is no longer visible to users. Channel editors still see removed comments and can restore them.

Removing a Comment Directly From the Post View

1. On the news post, navigate to the comment you want to remove.
2. Click the three dots for the comment to open the action menu.
   
   
3. Click Remove.

4. Select whether you want to remove the comment or whether it should be moved to the trash. 
5. Click Confirm.
   You have removed the comment. The comment is no longer visible to users. Channel editors still see removed comments and can restore them.
