MCP connectors use the Model Context Protocol to give Navigator access to tools from external platforms.
Navigator provides Atlassian MCP connectors as a ready-to-use connector. Unlike custom MCP connectors, you do not need to add these connectors yourself. You can edit, remove, activate, or deactivate them as needed.
Adding an MCP Connector in Navigator
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > Navigator > Connectors.
- Under Available Connectors, locate the connector you want to add.
- Select Connect.
The Connect MCP page opens. - Follow the instructions on the screen.
You have added an MCP connector. The connection is activated by default. After employees connect to the tool and authenticate, they can use it in Navigator.
Prerequisite:
- You need the MCP server URL for the tool or application you want to connect to. Check the tool or application documentation for their MCP server URL.
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > Navigator > Connectors.
- Under Custom Connectors > Custom MCP, select Add MCP.
The Connect Custom MCP page opens. - Under Name, enter the name of the connector.
- Under Server URL, enter the MCP server URL for the tool or application you want to connect.
- Select Create.
You have added an MCP connector. The connection is activated by default. After employees connect to the tool and authenticate, they can use it in Navigator.
Editing an MCP Connector in Navigator
You can edit an MCP connection at any time to update its name or remove it if it is no longer needed. You cannot change the Server URL. If you want to modify it, you need to remove the connector and add a new one.
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > Navigator > Connectors.
- Locate the connector you want to edit.
- Select the three dots to open the more options menu.
- Select Manage for the connection you want to modify.
The Edit Connector page opens. - Update the connector name, or select Remove Connector to remove it from the platform.
You have edited the MCP connection to update its details or removed it from the platform.
Activating or Deactivating an MCP Connector in Navigator
You can activate or deactivate an MCP connection that has already been added at any time.
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > Navigator > Connectors.
- Locate the connector you want to activate or deactivate.
- Select the three dots to open the more options menu.
- Select Activate or Deactivate.
You have activated or deactivated the MCP connection.
