After you have uploaded a CSV file, you can prepare the import.
Configuring the Settings
- In the Studio, navigate to Users > User Import and Sync.
- From the three dots actions menu corresponding to the file you want to import, click Start Import.
The Start Import option appears only for files in Draft status.The Settings page opens.
- Under Import Type, select one of the following:

Selected Users
This option only updates the data of users included in the CSV file. The remaining user data in the platform remains intact.This option is also referred to as delta import. If you want to offboard users using delta import, you need to add a column to your CSV file with each user's account status. Learn more. -
All Users
This option updates all the users, including those in the CSV file and the platform. It also deactivates active users and deletes pending users who are not in the CSV file.

Selected Users
- Under the Text Encoding dropdown, select the type of text encoding used in your CSV file.
- In the Cell Separator field, enter the value used to separate cells in the CSV file.
- Under the Text Encoding dropdown, select the type of text encoding used in your CSV file.
- Click Next.
The Mapping page opens.
Configuring the Mapping
- In the Mapping page, under Identifier maps to, select the checkbox Identifier.
- Map the rest of the CSV column names to profile fields in the platform according to your user management structure.
To offboard users using delta imports, map the CSV column containing account status values to Status. - Optionally, select the following options:
- Automatically generate recovery codes?: To generate recovery codes for users

Invite new users via email or Invite pending users via email: To send an email invitation
The options to invite users via email appears only if you have mapped CSV columns to the identification Email Address.
- Click Create Preview.
You can also click Import File directly, but Staffbase recommends ensuring the updates you're about to make to your user base by checking the preview.You have mapped the file and created a preview. Now you review the import.
