Staffbase supports multilingual organizations and offers localization and in special cases, even customization to reach to their users better.
- Localization is a translation of texts based on the languages available for the Staffbase platform.
- Customization is the modification of the texts available for one of the localizations. To learn more about customization, reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Interface for Plugins
Plugins like Forms, Chat, and so on come with their own respective interface. The interface involves all the buttons and system messages that are displayed when you open the plugin. These texts are automatically localized in one of the languages available for the plugins.
A plugin’s interface language depends on its language options which differ from plugin to plugin. While some plugins offer buttons and messages in multiple languages, certain other plugins may offer only a single language setup.
The interface for plugins is non customizable.
Example of the interface for Forms plugin
Content that appears in the app is created in News, Pages, and plugins such as Forms, Chat, and so on by editors or administrators. The main menu in the app is also part of the content.
For News and Pages
Staffbase offers a multi-language setup for News and Pages. Editors and administrators can create the content for News and Pages and their titles in different languages via the multi-language setup. Depending on the user’s configured content language the respective localization is displayed to the user.
Only for News and Pages, when on-demand translation is activated and enabled for your employee platform, the app user can translate content on-demand.
Content that appears in the app is created in the plugins, such as Forms, Chats, and so on are created by editors or administrators. The titles of the plugins that are displayed on the main menu in the app are also created by administrators and editors. Additionally, administrators and editors can create the plugin content and title in different languages via the multi-language setup, which allows the plugin content and title to be set up in different languages. This multi-language setup is available for some plugins only. Depending on the user’s configured content language the respective localization is shown to the user. But as the multi-language setup is not available for all plugins, part of the content will not be localised.
What is a multi-language setup?
Multi-language setup is an option for the editors and administrators to add content for News, Pages and other plugins in one of the languages configured for their organization. Some of the plugins have multi-language setup, whereas certain other plugins do not have this setup.
For example, if you have already configured more than one language for your organization, Pages offer multi-language setup for its editors and administrators.
When using multiple languages: What will my users see?
The users define the language of the app content in Settings > Language settings under their user profile. The Language settings option is only available if more than one language is configured for your app.
If you cannot provide all content in all languages in a multilingual environment, content is displayed in a default language of your choice. This means that you can, for example, offer English or another, commonly spoken language as a replacement.
The interface is related to the language setting of the user's device. If the device is set to a language that is not available as an interface language, a suitable language is used as a replacement. If a content is configured in a single language and is different from the user's device and language settings, those settings will have no effect on the content.
