Establish your custom password policy to maximize the security of your internal communications platform. In the Studio you have the opportunity to define the length and complexity of passwords your employees can use to sign in to your platform.
Password settings in the Studio only apply to Staffbase passwords. If your organization is using an identity provider (SSO) for sign-in to the Staffbase platform, passwords are managed by the SSO provider. Contact Staffbase Support if you use SSO and other sign-in methods in combination.
- In the Studio, navigate to Settings > Security.
- Under the section Passwords use the two dropdowns to adjust your password policy:
- Length: Length means the minimum character length of your user’s passwords. Automatically, the character length is set to at least 6 characters, meaning only passwords with at least 6 characters are accepted as valid.
- Complexity: Complexity means the minimum number of different character types needed to form a valid password. Character types are lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols. The complexity value is set at 1 by default, meaning that users only need to have 1 character type to have a valid password. A complexity value of 2 means that your users need 2 different character types in their passwords, a value of 3 means 3 different character types, and so on. Users can choose which character types they use.
- Click Save.
The updated password policy is now effective for all new users and users who reset or change their passwords. Passwords that have been in place before you made the policy change will remain.
