Display news in your office lounge or at an event, such as at a job fair, conference, or annual meeting with Screen Embedding. Screen Embedding makes your organization's news ready for digital signage in the form of a slideshow on large digital screens. Depending on if it is a public event or a company event, you can decide to enable a QR code. If the QR code is enabled, your employees can scan it and read the rest of the post on your platform. All you need to do is select any news channel or news page to create a slideshow and publish it. Then use the URL generated to open the slideshow in a web browser.
Configuring a Slideshow for Screen Embedding
The slideshow will include the first five news posts from the news channel or news page you select. Each slide will be displayed for 15 seconds.
Limitations with the beta version:
Depending on the device you use for screen embedding, images or videos might not display correctly.
- Staffbase recommends attaching a computer or media player to a screen to run the slideshow via the computer browser. Possible devices could be Dell Micro PC or HP Thin Client with Windows, Chromecast 4K with Google TV, or Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
- When using a screen with a built-in browser, Staffbase recommends checking the Chromium version the browser is based on. As the browsers usually can’t be updated, issues are more likely to occur on older screen models. A Chromium version of 63 or higher is more likely to work. For example, find the Chromium versions for LG devices here and the Chromium versions for Samsung devices here.
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > System.
- Click Screen Embedding.
The Screen Embedding overview page opens. - Click Create Slideshow.
The New Slideshow page opens. - In the Slideshow tab, enter a name for the slideshow.
- Select a Channel or News Page as the news source for the slideshow.
- From the Language dropdown, select the language in which you want the slideshow.
The Language dropdown contains all the content languages available for your organization. If the language you selected is not available for the news content, the news content will be displayed in the default content language of your platform. - Optionally, enable the toggle for QR Code.
Employees can scan the QR code from the slideshow and read the post directly in your platform. - Select one of the display formats to see the preview for your display device:
- Landscape
- Portrait
- Click Save.
You have configured a slideshow for the Screen Embedding feature. Now you need to publish it to generate the URL that is then used to show the slideshow on a screen.
Publishing a Slideshow for Screen Embedding
After you have configured the slideshow, you can publish it and generate the URL. The URL is required for embedding the slideshow on a screen.
Anyone with the URL can access the slideshow. The slideshow plays without login.
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > System.
- Click Screen Embedding.
The Screen Embedding overview page opens. - Click the slideshow you want to open. The slideshow page opens.
- Click Publish and Generate URL.
The slideshow is published and the URL is generated. - Copy the generated URL.
You have published the slideshow and generated a URL for it. Now, you can open the URL to play the slideshow in an internet browser. The URL can be opened on multiple devices at once.
