Note on product naming: As of 2022, Bananatag is Staffbase's Employee Email product.
If you use the Outlook Classic email add-in, you have the ability to enable recipient counting in your Settings menu within Outlook.
This feature counts the number of recipients in the To, CC, and BCC fields and automatically update the recipient number within your tracked email metrics. It saves time by eliminating the need to manually enter the number of recipients for each email sent.
- In your Outlook ribbon, click Create with Staffbase.
A list of your saved Email Designer drafts is displayed. - Click the gear wheel to open your Settings menu.
- Scroll down and toggle Auto-Count Recipients to On. It is Off by default.
This allows Employee Email to count the number of recipients for each sent email in its statistics dashboard.
When this setting is enabled, static contact lists are tracked by default. You also have the option to sign into your organization's email system and enable Staffbase to track its Dynamic Distribution Lists.
Recipient counting can result in delayed sending depending on how your lists are set up. If you notice only one recipient, contact Staffbase Support or your Customer Success Manager for assistance.
Recipient numbers can also be entered manually in the Email Summary report within your Email Metrics.
- Navigate to the Bananatag Outlook box in the upper right-hand corner.
- Click Settings.
- Select Mailbox.
- Enable Recipient Counting (disabled by default).
- Sign in with your Microsoft credentials so that Employee Email can connect to your Exchange server.

Do I Need This Feature?
There are multiple ways to count the number of recipients on the tracked emails you send.
One way is through your Mail/Admin team and another is by using Employee Email's Recipient Counting feature. The number of recipients is important when you access your metrics on the sent email. It helps to provide you with the best estimate of the Open Rate.
