You can add any language activated for your organization to a form, so employees can complete it in the language they prefer. Employees see the form in their platform language automatically. If no translation exists, the form falls back to the default language.
Staffbase offers two Forms plugins that run independently in the Studio: the plugin described here, called Forms, and the previous plugin, now called Classic Forms, where each language is authored from scratch, one at a time. See Choosing Between Forms and Classic Forms to decide which to use.
To manage the languages of a form:
- In the Studio, navigate to Content > Forms.
- Open the form you want to add a language to or remove a language from.
-
In the top menu, open the language dropdown.
Adding a Language
When you add a language, you can copy the content from an existing language version or translate it automatically.
-
In the language dropdown, select Add.
The Add language dialog opens. - From the Select the language to add dropdown, select the language.
The dropdown lists the languages activated in your Studio. - Under Choose how to add content, select an option:
- Copy content: The content of an existing language version is copied.
- Translate automatically: The content of an existing language version is translated into the new language. This option is available only if on-demand translations are activated for your organization.
- From the Copy design and content from dropdown, select the source language.
- Select Add.
You have added a language to your form. Each language displays in the language dropdown.
Adding a new question or editing an existing one puts the translation of that question out of sync. To bring a language up to date, either delete and re-add the automatic translation, or enter the translation for that question yourself.
Deleting a Language
You can delete a language version if you no longer need it or added it by mistake.
- In the language dropdown, select the language you want to delete.
-
Select Delete.
The Remove Language? dialog opens. - Select Remove Language.
The language version is permanently deleted. Existing submissions are not affected: employees who completed the form in that language keep their submitted answers. Employees who have not yet completed the form see the default language the next time they open it. You can add the language back at any time.
