Yes, changing the targeting of blocks in scheduled emails is possible.
Can I use dynamic block targeting for emails with a custom target group that has been uploaded via CSV?
No, the target audience of the email must be All Folder Users or User Groups and Users.
Is it possible to select multiple blocks at once for targeting?
No, you can only select one block at a time to target it to a specific user or user group.
Is there a limit to the number of users or user groups that can be assigned to a block?
No, there is no limit.
Which users and user groups can be selected for targeting?
Dynamic block targeting relies on the existing folder audience. When targeting a block, you can select from the full folder audience, even if the email itself is sent to a more specific audience. A block is only sent if its target audience is included in the actual target audience of the email.
What happens if a user belongs to multiple targeted user groups?
If a user is part of multiple user groups and different blocks are targeted to each group, the user receives all blocks targeted to any of their groups, as well as all blocks targeted to all users.
How can I preview targeted blocks?
When previewing for selected users or user groups, the preview shows:
- Blocks targeted to all users
- Blocks targeted specifically to those users or groups
Can I send test emails for targeted content?
Yes. You can send test emails for:
- Specific users or user groups used in block targeting
- A version that includes all blocks
- A version that includes all blocks targeted to ‘all users’
Additional details:
- The test email includes an information banner listing the selected users and user groups.
- When sending a test email from the preview view, the selected preview audience is automatically applied.
Is it possible for a user or user group to receive an empty email?
Yes, each recipient receives only the blocks targeted to them. If no blocks are targeted to them, the email will be empty. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to target at least one block to all users.
Are all blocks of the email displayed in the table of contents?
Yes, the table of contents also shows the blocks that are not included in the email due to targeting. A workaround is to create a table of contents for each target group, manually tailor it to the target group, and target the respective block to this target group.
How does dynamic block targeting work with multi-language emails?
When an email with targeted blocks is copied or translated, the block targeting settings are automatically retained in the new language versions. Any changes made to a language version after it has been copied are not automatically applied to other language versions.
What happens when I duplicate an email?
When duplicating an email draft, all block targeting settings are carried over.
What does the HTML download include?
The HTML download includes only the content visible at the time of download.
For example, if you download the HTML while previewing content for specific user groups, only that version is included in the download.
How is email performance measured with targeted blocks?
The email analytics and click maps can be shown per selected user group. The click map reflects only the content that the selected group received. Filtering can only be done by group, not by individual recipients.
