In July 2023, Google introduced a verification process for new developer accounts created in Google Play Console. This process aims to prevent the spread of malware, reduce fraud, and increase transparency so users understand who is behind the apps they're installing. Google has extended this verification process to existing accounts created before September 2023. If you have a developer account in Google Play Console that was created before September 2023, you'll need to submit it for verification to continue publishing apps on Google Play.

You need to reserve a date for your organization's developer account verification.
Can I choose any deadline for the account verification?
Staffbase recommends choosing the earliest date available. This way, we can better coordinate the app delivery process after your account verification.
What happens if I don't submit for account verification?
IIf you do not set a date before February 29, 2024, Google will set a binding date for you to complete the account verification.
Reserving a Verification Deadline
Prerequisites:
- You have the D-U-N-S number for your organization. Learn more. If you do not remember your the D-U-N-S number, you can look it up.
The developer name in the Google Play Console should match your organization name. For more info, see Steps to choose your verification deadline. - You have the administrator role for your organization's developer account. Personal developer accounts are not accepted.
- In Google Play Console, navigate to Choose your preferred account verification deadline now > Get started.
- From the Select a deadline dropdown, select the earliest date available.
- Click Next.
- Under Account type, select Organization account.
- For Does your organization have a D-U-N-S number?, select Yes, and provide the number for your organization.
- Under Which country or region is your organization registered in?, select the country.
- Click Next.
The Review and confirm your deadline page opens. - Click Reserve.
You have reserved a deadline for the verification. You will receive an email confirming your chosen deadline.
Account Verification
You can start the verification process in Google Play Console 60 days before the verification deadline. For example, if you selected August 28th as the verification deadline, the verification process starts on June 29th. At this point, Staffbase does not have further details. We will point you towards more details as soon as Google releases further information.
Things to Provide

- Your organization's legal name and address
- D-U-N-S number for your organization
- A contact number for Google Play console users to contact your organization
- A contact number and email for Google to contact your organization
- An official document to verify your identity
- An official document to verify your organization
- You have provided details for your account on the Account details page of Google Play Console.
