The Analytics dashboard provides deeper insights into how, when, and where users engage with the Staffbase platform. The Analytics dashboard is divided into different categories to allow you to dive deep into metrics:
This article explains the News tab in detail, including the graphs and analytical data found within them. Learn more about the entire Analytics dashboard, including user role access, in the Overview of the Analytics Dashboard.
Filters
The dashboard automatically opens to the News tab, showing all the content from the past seven days by default. You can change the date range and use further filters to refine the results.
The Channel filter is unique to the News tab. This filter allows you to select which news channels display on the tab. It is dynamic according to your organization’s news channels. Once you select a filter, it is applied to all of the graphs in the News tab.
Graphs
In the News tab, there are four graphs with detailed metrics about your users.
News Activity
The News Activity line graph displays the following metrics for News:
- New Posts
- Visits
- Visitors
- Likes
- Comments
- Shares

The News Activity line graph displays detailed statistics on different news metrics. Each metric has a corresponding color in the graph. By default, it displays all news metrics. This way, you can see how the options overlap in the entire graph. You can deselect one or more metrics to customize the graph. This allows for comparison between specific areas, for example, posts and likes.
When you hover over a certain date on the graph, you can see specific data for that date, depending on the metrics that are selected. You can further narrow down your results by applying filters or removing metrics.
The values on the right side of the graph also shift the appropriate high value depending on the different metrics and filters selected. For example, if the Visits metric had a high value and you deselect it, the highest graph value automatically adjusts to the next highest value. The values at the bottom of the graph also shift automatically depending on the time frame selected. For large time frames, such as a year, the time displays in monthly increments. For short time frames, such as a week, the time displays in daily increments.
Color-coded percentages underneath the different metrics show how that metric has changed since the previous time period. A positive number in green indicates that the metric has increased. A negative number in red indicates the metric has decreased. These percentages give admins exact numbers so they can see how much growth or decline in interaction there has been in each specific category.
By default, the date range filter is set to seven days when first opening the tab. The percentages also automatically compare the metrics from the last seven days.

News Channels

This allows admins to see which channels are receiving the most interest and in what way. The channels are listed in the sideways bar graph. By default, the list is sorted by Visits. You can click on any of the other titles in the header row to sort by the column of your choice, for example, alphabetically by title or by the number of comments. The list gives a great overview of all the posts, allowing you to compare them directly with each other.
In cases where there are more visits than visitors, the same user read the article more than once. In addition, there can be more likes than there are visits. That is because users can like a post from within the news feed, without clicking and opening the post.

- In the Studio, navigate to Analytics.
The News tab opens. - Navigate to the News List table.
