Once you have configured News Central Setup, you can easily add the News Central web part to a SharePoint page and configure the news source and layout.
Adding News Central to a Page
Prerequisites:
- You have the role of a SharePoint site member or higher permission to add a web part.
- You have configured News Central to a SharePoint site.
- Navigate to a page in the SharePoint site on which you configured News Central.
- Click Edit at the top right of the page.
- Hover your mouse over the page.
The + icon to add a new web part is displayed.
- Click the + icon.
A dialog with the web parts available to you is displayed. - Search for News Central and select it.
You have added the News Central web part and now you can configure it.
Configuring the News Source and Layout of News Central
Prerequisite:
- To select a channel as a News Source, you need at least the role of Author or Editor for that channel in the Studio.
- On the SharePoint site, navigate to the page in which you added the web part.
- Click the Edit icon to open the News Central dialog.
The News Central dialog opens prompting you to sign in to Staffbase. - Sign in to your Staffbase platform.
- Under News Source, select the news page or channel you want the news to be drawn from.
Media and Update channels are not supported for the Carousel and Tiles layouts. - Under Layout, define whether you want to show a title for the web part and provide see all posts link by adjusting the toggle for Show title and "See all".
- For Layout, select one of the following:
The Carousel layout shows users a slideshow of news stories.

Define the number of posts to include by using the slider for Number of Posts.
- Adjust the following settings by enabling or disabling the toggle for:
- Autoplay: To play news one after the other automatically in the carousel
- Carousel Navigation Dots: To display how many news posts are in the carousel with a series of navigation dots
- Channel Names: To display the channel name from which the news posts are displayed
- News Post Titles: To display the title of news posts
- Teaser Texts: To display the teaser text from the news
- Liking and Commenting: To allow users to add their likes and comments to posts
The Tiles layout shows users the news in a tile format.

Define the number of posts to include by using the slider for Number of Posts.

- Channel Names: To display the channel name from which the news posts are displayed
- News Post Titles: To display the title of news posts
The Side-by-side layout shows users the news in a two-column list.

The List layout shows users news in a list format.

How News Central on a Page Looks to Users
The user experience differs based on the News Central version your users use.
Depending upon the layout that the editor configured, users will see one of the following:
Users will see a screen to explore news the first time they use the web part.
Once users click Explore, they need to sign in to the Staffbase platform or with their Microsoft SSO. After that depending upon the layout that the editor configured, users will see one of the following:
