The Android app icon is visible on the home screen of your Android device. Android also refers to this icon as the launcher icon. The adaptive icon is used for devices with Android 8 and higher. On Android devices, every launcher displays app icons differently. Some launchers place the icons on square backgrounds, while others cut icons into a round shape. Adaptive icons were introduced with the intention of making all icons on a given Android device, starting with Android 8 and higher, look more consistent in terms of size and shape.
This new type of icon comes with a specified safe zone that will always be displayed to accommodate all of these varying icon types. Staffbase supports adaptive icons, ensuring your app icon will always look great on all devices and Android versions.
