What are Apple Privacy Labels?
Apple has privacy labels on the App Store to provide more transparency to its users around the data your app uses.
Is it mandatory to answer the app privacy questions and what happens if I don't?
Yes, it is mandatory. If you do not answer the app privacy questions about your app, no new version of your app can be released to your users.
The labels are required for new and existing apps and are in addition to the existing requirement of linking to the organization's privacy policy.
What kind of data is generally collected by apps using the Staffbase platform?
Usually apps using the Staffbase platform collect only data required to enable users to securely use the app and to provide users with content relevant to them. The kind of information collected may vary depending on the specific use cases for your app. For this reason we are not able to provide a definitive set of answers to Apple’s privacy questions about your app’s data processing activities. Find more information here.
Why can’t Staffbase provide the app privacy information?
Staffbase cannot provide this information for multiple reasons:
- Only Account Holders or Admins can fill the information in App Store Connect.
- Only you as the app owner are responsible for complying with the relevant terms of the App Store.
- You have the full understanding of the use cases for your app and know what information is collected from your users when they use the app.
How often do I need to provide the app privacy information?
Once you provide the app privacy information, it is used for multiple upcoming releases or bug fixes. As long as your data usage practices do not change, there is no need to update the label.
In case data usage practices in your app changed, you are required to update and maintain the information in the app privacy questionnaire. Even after publishing your data privacy label, you can answer the questions again and publish a new data privacy label. Updates to the app privacy label apply instantly. There is no need to rebuild or resubmit the app.
Why can’t I see the app privacy labels?
For you to see the app privacy labels on the App Store, you need:
- iOS 14.4 or higher
- macOS 11.1 or higher
