Staffbase provides easy and safe ways to recover a user account, if necessary. 

Permanent Recovery Code

Setup

You need to set up recovery codes in one of the following ways:

• Importing recovery codes with a user data import, for example, a CSV import
• Letting the system generate the recovery codes when doing a CSV import
• Setting a recovery code manually

Details 

A user that was onboarded with a username recovers the account with a permanent recovery code. 

A permanent recovery code belongs to one specific user. You can limit the validity of these predefined recovery codes to a time span like one hour or one year. The time span setting is very flexible.

Temporary Recovery Code

Setup

You do not need to do anything. But it is important, that your users sign in with an email address. 

Details

A user that was onboarded via email recovers the account using the sign-in email address to receive a temporary recovery code.

A temporary recovery code is only generated on demand when the process to reset a password was started. The temporary recovery code is only valid for 48 hours and can only be used with the email address to which it was sent. If the same user needs to recover the account again, the system generates a new temporary code.
