Staffbase has different types of feature statuses that are based on the product lifecycle. The appropriate status for a feature is determined by the product team and associated stakeholders. These statuses help clarify the development stage a feature is in and how it is made available to customers.
Features move through the different phases of the product life cycle at varying speeds. Initially, they undergo internal testing followed by a closed beta, where the feature is tested in a small group of customers for a set period of time. Once this first stage of testing is completed, the feature is made available with one of the following feature statuses:
- Beta
- Production
You are always notified of any new feature or update and its associated status through the Staffbase release process. Both features in beta and production are officially communicated through the Support Portal Release Notes, marketing communication, and documentation on both the Support and Developer Portals.
Beta
Beta features are still under development and are stable for you to test. The main purpose of the beta is to identify any bugs or usability issues and ensure the feature meets quality standards before moving into production. You are also highly encouraged to share feedback, which can play a key role in shaping the final version.
All marketing and support documentation clearly indicates that the feature is in beta, such as through beta labels in Release Notes and explicit mentions in marketing collateral. This is to provide clarity that the feature is in the last stage of testing. Betas are opt-in and always require activation, and some features may be only available to certain pricing plans. Pricing information for beta features is not included in the Support Portal Release Notes, but you can contact your Customer Success Manager or Staffbase Support for more information.
Production
Production features are fully developed and officially released to customers. They are part of the product offering and are designed to drive adoption while being actively maintained and improved. Staffbase continuously enhances production features based on customer feedback, performance insights, and evolving product goals.
Depending on the feature, deployment may happen via activation, staged, or automatic rollout. You are always notified of the deployment strategy through the release process. They are included in the product exhibit and pricing plan. The pricing for features in production is included in the Support Portal Release Notes.
