Staffbase constantly releases new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to help you communicate better with your employees. By leveraging a combination of continuous code deployment, feature management, and quarterly feature releases, Staffbase ensures a seamless flow of updates tailored to your platform.
This article outlines the release process, including both continuous code deployment and quarterly releases, and its impact on your platform.
Continuous Code Deployment
Continuous code deployment allows Staffbase to frequently deliver updates, including bug fixes, security enhancements, and minor improvements. The Staffbase platform has different components that follow different release cycles, ranging from multiple times a day to weekly schedules. Ad hoc releases are done for critical bugs and security fixes. This approach enables multiple teams to work simultaneously and incrementally on features.
Staffbase communicates all these changes biweekly through the Latest Staffbase Updates.
For Staffbase APIs, the release of new APIs and updates to existing ones are communicated through the Developer Changelog.
Quarterly Feature Releases
Staffbase conducts four major feature releases annually. These releases are named based on the respective quarter and year, for example, the Q1 2025 Release. Each feature release introduces new features and enhancements for both web and mobile applications.
All new features and improvements for the quarterly feature releases also follow continuous code deployment. This means they are incrementally deployed during daily and weekly releases but remain hidden from your platform. For this, Staffbase uses feature flags to control what is visible on your platform, ensuring seamless continuous development without disrupting your user experience. This approach also allows Staffbase to notify you in advance of any changes.
On the official release day, Staffbase activates the features that need to be available on your platform. Depending on the product lifecycle stage, some features are only available upon request to Staffbase Support or the Customer Success Manager.
If the feature is automatically rolled out to all customers, Staffbase removes the feature flag to activate the feature for all.
Staffbase notifies you two weeks in advance of these release features through Release Notes, giving you time to prepare or communicate changes to your users. In addition Staffbase sends out an email to customers to let them know the Release Notes are ready. If you would like to receive this email, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or Staffbase Support.
Continuous deployment enables Staffbase to keep your platform consistently up to date, while the quarterly releases deliver innovative features to simplify and enhance your internal communication.
