Blocking Approvals helps your organization maintain control and consistency by ensuring that posts can only be published after explicit approval from assigned reviewers.
Approvers within a channel don’t need to go through the approval process unless approval has been requested. They can schedule or publish posts immediately.
If a post shows the status Approval Pending, it can still be edited. If you see this status in a draft post, consult the approval requester before making any changes.
Requesting Approvals
Content approvals ensure consistency with organizational standards, enhancing the quality of published posts. Within the Publish tab, you can request approvals from responsible users with just one click.
- In the Studio, navigate to the news post you want to request approval for.
- Navigate to the Publish tab.
- Under Publication, click Request Approval.
The Approval Request dialog opens. -
In the Approver dropdown, select an approver.
You can only select one approver per request.
- Add a deadline for the approval.
- Optionally, select a priority and add a message to the approver.
- Click Submit for Approval.
You have requested approval from a user. The Publish tab shows that the approval is pending. Learn more about the different approval statuses.
The assigned user receives an email informing them about the approval request. The email includes a link to the news post.
Once the assigned user has approved or rejected the request, you are notified via email.
Withdrawing Requested Approvals
Approval requests can be withdrawn as long as the approver has not reacted to it yet.
You can only withdraw requests that you submitted.
- In the Studio, navigate to the news post for which you want to withdraw a requested approval.
- Navigate to the Publish tab.
- Under Request pending, click Cancel Request.
The Cancel Request? dialog opens. - Click Cancel my Request.
You have withdrawn the request. The approver receives an email informing them about the canceled approval request. You can request a new approval anytime.
If the approver clicks the link in the email they received after the request has been withdrawn, they will be directed to the draft post, but the request will no longer be visible.
Approving or Rejecting Approval Requests
If you have been assigned as an approver, you will receive an email on the approval request. The email includes a link to the news post as well as other information such as the deadline, priority, and any comments, if available.
- In your email inbox, navigate to the email you received regarding the news post and click Open.
The news post opens in the Studio. - Navigate to the Publish tab.
- Under Request pending, click Approve or Reject.
The Approve Request or Reject Request dialog opens. - Under Feedback, add a comment.
In the Approve Request dialog, this step is optional.
- Click Approve or Reject.

The Publish tab shows whether the request has been approved or rejected, along with your comments, if available.
- In your email inbox, navigate to the email you received regarding the news post and click Open.
The news post opens in a new tab. - Under Request pending, click Approve or Reject.

- Click Approve or Reject.

Scheduling or Publishing Approved Posts
Once a post is approved, it can be scheduled or published immediately.
Editing Published Posts
Posts that have been published, and need to be adjusted afterward, can be updated. To do so, you first need to unpublish the post.
After unpublishing a post, another approval is required to publish it again.
- In the Studio, navigate to the published news post you want to adjust.
- Navigate to the Publish tab.
- Under Publication, click Unpublish.
The Unpublish post? dialog opens. - Click Unpublish.
You have unpublished the post. Now, you can edit it and request approval for it to be published again.
