Communications Control offers three ways to make ideas part of editorial planning and turn them into content or topics:
1. Transform Ideas Into Content or Topics in the Ideas Module
In the ideas module, you have the possibility to transform ideas into content or topics in both the grid and table view. Simply click on the respective option in the three-dot menu of the idea you want to transform. The three-dot menu opens in the upper right corner when hovering over an idea.
Some ideas will display the option Create story from idea, and some will display Create content from idea. This difference is caused by the fact that some ideas have already been given a content type, while for others, this field is empty. For ideas with a content type, you will see the option to create a content. For all others, you will see the option to create a story.
You can keep an idea in your idea collection even though you convert it to a content/story or topic. After you press the button to convert the idea, you have to decide whether this makes sense for you or not.
You will then be redirected to the respective detail view and can add a publication date or time period.
2. Converting Ideas to Content or Topics in the Idea Detail View
In the ideas detail view, you have the possibility to convert ideas into content/stories or topics at the bottom of the page. Click on the respective icon. You will be asked if you want to keep the idea in the idea collection and then be redirected to the detail view.
3. Converting Ideas to Content in the Calendar
In three of the four calendar views (month, week, day), you also have the possibility to convert an idea into content.
This way, you can only turn ideas into content, not topics, as in the other two cases.
Select the clock icon to open the corresponding menu. There, you will find an overview of all drafts, ideas, and shared objects (if you use the shared library). By dragging and dropping the idea to the desired date in the calendar, you transform it into a content.
