Bring Staffbase News as an adaptive card extension (ACE) to Viva Connections and close the gap in your employee communication. This integration allows users in Viva Connections to consume the latest news published on the Staffbase platform.
Viva Connections is an application experience in Microsoft Teams. Both desktop and mobile device users can access it. If your organization uses Viva Connections, users can seamlessly access Staffbase News from the Dashboard of Viva Connections, irrespective of whether they are accessing it on the web or mobile app.
Configuring Staffbase Recent News in Viva Connections
Follow these steps to make Staffbase News available to your users on Viva Connections:
- Install Staffbase Recent News on SharePoint App Catalog
- Add Staffbase Recent News to Dashboard

Installing Staffbase Recent News on SharePoint App Catalog
Install Staffbase Recent News to the SharePoint App Catalog in order to add Staffbase Recent News to SharePoint sites.
Prerequisites
- You have the site collection administrator role in SharePoint App Catalog.
- You have downloaded the latest version of Staffbase Recent News to your local computer.
- Navigate to SharePoint admin center > More features.
The More features page opens. - Under Apps click Open.
- Navigate to App Catalog > Apps for SharePoint.
- Click Upload and select the Staffbase Recent News file.
- Click OK.
- Under App Package Error Message, check that the file was uploaded without an error. You have added Staffbase Recent News as an app. Now, you can add Staffbase Recent News to the Dashboard of a SharePoint Online home site of your choice.
Adding Staffbase Recent News to the Viva Connections Dashboard
You can add Staffbase Recent News as a card to the Dashboard of a SharePoint home site.
Prerequisites
- You have a SharePoint home site.
- You have the site collection administrator role in SharePoint App Catalog.
- Staffbase Recent News has been installed in the App Catalog.
- Open the SharePoint home site to which you want to add Staffbase Recent News.
- Navigate to Settings > Manage Viva Connections.
The Manage Viva Connections dialog opens.
- Click View Dashboard.
The Dashboard.aspx page of the home site opens. - Click Edit.
- Click Add a card.
The dropdown menu for cards opens. - Select Staffbase Recent News.
Configuring a Staffbase Recent News Card
You can configure the Staffbase Recent News as a card after you add it.
- Navigate to the Dashboard on to which you added Staffbase Recent News.
- Click Edit.
The Dashboard opens in edit mode. - Click the pencil icon to edit the Staffbase Recent News card.
The Staffbase Recent News dialog opens. - From the Card size dropdown, select a card size.
- In the Card title field, provide a title for the card.
- In the Staffbase backend URL field, provide your Staffbase platform domain URL.
- Adjust the Number of news to display slider to define the number of posts you want to display.
- Click Select icon image to display an image for the card.
- In the Audiences to target field, provide the user groups for whom you want to make Staffbase News available.
- Click Publish.
How Staffbase Recent News in Viva Connections Looks to Users
When users access their Dashboard on Viva Connections, Staffbase Recent News is displayed as a card. Clicking the More news button takes users to news feed dialog. On clicking a news post title or image further redirects them to the news post in the Staffbase platform.
