The Microsoft 365 Files plugin from Staffbase displays documents from Microsoft 365 in your App or Intranet.
The Microsoft 365 Files plugin from Staffbase is no longer in active development and receives only security-relevant maintenance. Staffbase recommends using the widget instead. Add the Microsoft 365 Files widget to a page to give users an even better experience and get future updates and improvements.

Installing the Microsoft 365 Files Plugin to Your App
Prerequisites:
- You have a Microsoft 365 user account
- In the Studio, navigate to Add plugin.
- Navigate to Microsoft 365 Files and click Install.
The dialog to add a file list opens.
- Provide a title for the file list.
- Set the visibility for the file list from the dropdown menu.
- Click Add File List.
You have added the Microsoft 365 Files plugin and your first file list. Later, you can add more file lists.
Granting Permission to Access SharePoint Online via the App
The first time you access the Microsoft 365 Files plugin, you will need to grant your app permission to access SharePoint Online.
Prerequisites:
- You need to have the role Global Administrator (Microsoft 365) in SharePoint Online to grant permission.
- In the Studio, open the Microsoft 365 File list you created.
The Microsoft 365 Sign in page opens.
You can only configure file lists for one Microsoft tenant using the Microsoft 365 File List plugin. - Click Sign in and follow the steps to sign into your Microsoft account.
- Select the checkbox for Consent on behalf of your organization and click Accept.
Configuring the Microsoft 365 Files Plugin
You can configure document lists from Microsoft 365 to display in your employee app, allowing your users to view files from any SharePoint Online site within Microsoft 365. You can configure the way in which the SharePoint Online files are shown in your app. For each file list, you can select one of the following based on:
- Specific library
- Show SharePoint Online files from a library of any SharePoint Online site. Using this option, you can show specific documents in a particular order.
- Recent files
- Show the files that were most recently modified or viewed in SharePoint Online and OneDrive. Using this option, the file list adapts for each individual user to show the files they interacted with most recently.
- Trending Files
- Show files that are currently most popular in SharePoint or OneDrive. This file list adapts based on the activity of all users, to show the most viewed and modified files.
Configuring a Specific Library
Prerequisites:
- You need to be authenticated to Microsoft 365
- You must have read permissions in the given document library in SharePoint Online
- In the Studio, navigate to Microsoft 365 Files.
- Select the file list you just created or add a new file list.
- Select the list type Specific library.
- Click Next.
- Click the Specific library drop-down menu and select a SharePoint Online website and library.
- Configure which columns should be displayed, as well as how the files should be sorted in the setting window.
The SharePoint Online site on which the library exists will determine the language of the columns. - Optionally, you can save additional filter configurations to the file list.
- Click Save.
Configuring a List of Recent Files
Prerequisites:
- You need to be authenticated to Microsoft 365
- You must have read permissions in the given document library in SharePoint Online
- In the Studio, navigate to Microsoft 365 Files.
- Select the file list you just created or add a new file list.
- Select the list type Recent files.
- Click Next.
- Define column visibility, sorting order, and number of files to be shown.
The SharePoint site on which the library exists will determine the language of the columns.
- Click Save.
Configuring a List of Trending Files
Prerequisites:
- You need to be authenticated to Microsoft 365
- You must have read permissions in the given document library in SharePoint Online
- In the Studio, navigate to Microsoft 365 Files.
- Select the file list you just created or add a new file list.
- Select the list type Trending Files.
- Click Next.
A list of trending files is displayed. - Click Save.
Publishing the Microsoft 365 File List in the App
- In the Studio, navigate to the Microsoft 365 File list you want to publish.
- Click Publish MS365 File List.
