ACTIVATION
Shorts are an engaging way to display video content, based on posts from a Media news channel. They are ideal for the Employee App, bringing a familiar social media-style experience to the platform. Media channels are the foundation of Shorts. Visibility, editor, and permission settings can be easily customized in the individual channel settings.
Staffbase recommends creating a dedicated Media channel or News page for Shorts. This allows you to tailor the settings and content to this specific format and ensure videos display in correct format.
Prerequisites:
- You have created and published a media channel.
- You have added the Shorts widget to a page.
CONTRIBUTOR
- In the Employee App, navigate to the page with the Shorts widget.
- Navigate to the widget and tap New Short.
The video upload dialog opens. - Upload a video. Optionally select:
- Upload to choose an existing video from your mobile device

Open Camera to record a new video.
A video preview opens.
- Tap Finalize Short.
- Enter a caption.
- In the Select a Channel dropdown, select which channel the video should be posted to.
The Notification and Post Options open. - Optionally, adjust the options.
- Click Publish.
CONTRIBUTOR
- In the Intranet, navigate to your Shorts news channel.
- Click New post.
The Create Post dialog opens. - Upload the Short video.
- Enter a description.
- Optionally, open the Advanced Settings to adjust notification and engagement options.
- Click Publish.
EDITOR
- In the Studio, navigate to the Content > News > the Shorts media channel.
- Click Create Post.
The Create Media page opens. - Upload the Short video.
- Enter a description.
- Click Save Draft.
- Optionally, click Preview to see how the post will look to your users.
- Publish the post.
You have created and published a Short. The video will be visible for users via the news channel and the Shorts widget on the page.
