What is the public area and why do I need one?
The public area is the part of your app or intranet that users can access before signing in. It caters to broader audiences, including customers, partners, and potential employees with public-facing communication, such as:
- Job postings
- Press releases
- Marketing content
- Public company updates
If you plan to distribute your app through app stores, contact Staffbase Support or your Customer Success Manager for more information about configuring public content.
Why can't I see the Visibility in the Public Area toggle?
You cannot see the Visibility in the Public Area toggle for one of the following reasons:
- You do not have a fully branded app yet. Demo apps and non-branded environments do not include public area visibility controls. Your Customer Success Manager configures your fully branded app during onboarding. After the branded app setup is complete, administrators can manage public area visibility settings.
- If your platform uses Spaces, only content from the default space, All Employees, can currently be made publicly available for:
- News channels
- Pages
Contact Staffbase Support or your Customer Success Manager for more information.
Why can't I see likes and comments in the public area?
Likes, comments, and other user interactions are not available in the public area. Only signed-in users can view or use interaction features on the platform.
Does the Content Designer support creating or editing public area content?
The new Content Designer does not currently support creating or editing public area content.
