MCP Server is a Staffbase feature that provides a permission-aware, read-only interface to Staffbase content through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) standard.
As organizations adopt AI tools in their daily work, employees increasingly expect AI tools and agents to answer questions using authoritative, organization-specific content. MCP Server bridges this gap by enabling MCP-supported AI clients, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to access Staffbase content on behalf of authenticated users. The MCP Server supports looking up user information and searching Staffbase content.
After Administrators connect the MCP Server to the organization’s AI client, your employee must authenticate the connection before asking questions and receiving answers.
Benefits of MCP Server
Standards-Based Connectivity
MCP Server implements the open MCP standard. Any AI clients that already support MCP can connect to Staffbase without custom development or one-off integrations.
Permission-Aware Results
AI agents only retrieve content that the authenticated user is permitted to see. Existing roles and permissions in Staffbase remain fully in effect during every interaction.
Read-Only by Design
MCP Server is read-only. AI agents can retrieve and surface content, but they cannot create, edit, or delete anything in Staffbase.
Focused, Task-Level Tools
Each MCP tool represents a real employee use case rather than a raw API call. This keeps AI interactions focused and limits unnecessary data exposure.
