Access Code
An access code is a code that allows users to register for the App without an email address, typically used for onboarding employees without individual work accounts.
Acknowledgements
Acknowledgements are the number of acknowledgments a news post has received. A user can only acknowledge a post once.
Action Menu
The action menu is a contextual menu shown as three dots. It provides quick access to actions such as edit, delete, or other additional tasks.
Active 1:1 Chat
An active 1:1 chat is a one-on-one chat with at least one message or interaction during a selected date range.
Active Chat Group
An active chat group is a chat group that has had at least one message or interaction during a selected date range.
Active Chat User
An active chat user is a user who has opened Chat at least once during a selected date range.
Active User
An active user is a user who has accessed the App at least once during a selected date range.
Administrator
Administrator is the highest user role, with access to every area of the platform, including the Settings and all content.
AI Podcast
The AI podcast is a feature that automatically generates an audio podcast version of published news content, using AI.
Alignment Survey
An alignment survey is a survey used within a campaign to measure employee understanding, sentiment, or alignment with the campaign's key messages.
Alt Text
Alt text is descriptive text attached to an image that improves accessibility for screen readers or in the case of slow internet.
Analytics Dashboard
The analytics dashboard is a feature which allows users to analyze performance metrics across different areas of the platform.
App
The app is the mobile application that employees use to access the Staffbase platform on their phones or tablets.
Author
Author is a user role that can create, edit, and publish their own news content for a single news channel. Also known as Contributor.
Avg. Time on Page
Avg. time on page is the average time visitors spent on the page, averaged across all visitors.

Blocks
Blocks are the modular content units that editors include to build pages and emails.
Bottom Navigation Bar
The bottom navigation bar is the menu at the bottom of the mobile App that provides quick access to the main sections of the platform.
Bounce Rate
Bounce rate is the percentage of users who left the page within three seconds of opening it.
Branding
Branding refers to the visual elements, such as logos, colors, and typography, that define the look and feel of a Staffbase platform for your organization.
Briefings
Briefings is a feature that allows you to gather all the necessary information to create the content needed.

Campaign Manager
Campaign manager is a user role that allows users to edit and manage Campaigns.
Campaigns
Campaigns is a feature allowing you to track content planned around a specific initiative or theme, each with its own audience and analytics.
Channel
A channel is a defined stream of news posts, typically organized by topic, audience, or department.
Chat
Chat is the Staffbase feature for real-time one-on-one and group messaging between employees.
Click rate
Click rate is the percentage of opened emails with a link inside that was clicked.
Clicks
Clicks are the number of clicks on links, documents, buttons, and media files within the page.
Collections
Collections are curated sets of media in the File Manager that can be grouped together for easy use across users.
Comment Sentiment
Comment sentiment is a net sentiment score based on comments (and comment replies) on news posts assigned to a campaign, calculated by subtracting the percentage of negative comments from the percentage of positive comments.
Comments
Comments are the number of times a news post was commented on. Users can leave multiple comments and replies; all are counted.
Communities
Communities are dedicated areas within the App and Intranet where employees can connect around shared topics, post updates, and engage in discussions.
Community Manager
A community manager is a user role that can guide discussions within a community.
Contact
Contact is a user role in Staffbase Email who can only receive emails and cannot access the Studio.
Content
Content is a tab in the top navigation bar of the Staffbase Studio area which holds plugins and other areas of the platform.
Content Designer for Pages
The content designer for pages is an editor used to build and style pages in the App and Intranet.
Contributor
Contributor is a user role that can create, edit, and publish their own news content for a single news channel. Also known as Author.

Dashboard
The dashboard is the first area that opens in the Staffbase Studio and provides a quick overview of key information, metrics, and actions.

Editor/Plugin Editor
Editor or Plugin Editor is a user role that can create, edit, publish, and manage content within an individual plugin instance.
Editorial Calendar
The editorial calendar is feature that shows scheduled news posts, campaigns, and other content in a calendar layout to help you plan.
Element
An element is a link, document, button, or media file that a user can interact with on a page.
Email (Staffbase email) is the Staffbase product for creating and sending newsletters and targeted email campaigns.
Email Designer
The email designer is the editor in Staffbase Email used to build and style email content.
Email Template
An email template is a pre-designed email layout in Staffbase Email that editors can reuse or adapt when creating new emails.
Engaged User
An engaged user is a user who has commented, liked, or shared a news post at least once during a selected date range. Chat and other plugin interactions are not currently counted.
Engagement
Engagement is the percentage of visitors who have interacted with at least one news post assigned to a campaign by reacting, commenting, or sharing.
Event Registration
Event registration is a feature that creates events and attendance lists inside of the App or Intranet.
Event Registration Editor
Event registration editor is a plugin-specific role that can edit, publish, and manage content for a specific Event Registration plugin instance.
Events Center
The events center is the feature for managing live streaming and other events.

File Manager
The file manager is a feature in the Studio for centrally managing files, collections, and media assets across the platform.
Files
Files is the navigational item in the top navigation of the Studio which takes you to the File Manager.
Folder Administrator
Folder administrator is a user role in Staffbase Email who can manage administrative tasks for a specific folder.
Folder Editor
Folder editor is a user role in Staffbase Email who can perform editorial tasks for a specific folder.
Forms
Forms is a feature for collecting structured information from employees through customizable forms.
Form Editor
Form editor is a plugin-specific role that can edit, publish, and manage content for a specific Forms plugin instance.

News
News is a feature for publishing articles, announcements, and updates to employees through channels.
News Editor
News editor (also known as Channel Editor) is a content-specific role that can edit, publish, and unpublish news posts within a specific channel and adjust certain channel settings.
News Page
A news page is a page that aggregates and displays news posts, often filtered by channel, category, or audience.
Notifications
Notifications are alerts that inform users about new content, mentions, comments, or other relevant activity in the App or Intranet.

On-Demand Translation
On-demand translation is a feature that lets users translate news posts and other content into their preferred language when viewing.
Open rate
Open rate is the percentage of sent emails that were opened.

Page
A page is a content area used to share long-lasting information, resources, or media.
Page Editor
A page editor is a role that can edit, publish, and unpublish content for a specific page.
Page Template
A page template is a pre-designed page layout that editors can reuse.
Pending User
A pending user is a user who has been invited to the App but has not yet registered.
Planning
Planning is a navigational area in the Studio where users access tools to coordinate content across the platform.
Plugin
A plugin is a mini-application that adds specific functionality to the Staffbase platform and integrates seamlessly with single sign-on. Administrators can install plugins available to the organization, and custom plugins can be built to add tailored functionality.
Potential Reach
Potential reach is the maximum number of users who can potentially view a news post (e.g., a channel with 100 subscribers has a potential reach of 100, including users subscribed via open groups).
Profile Fields
Profile fields are the data points stored on a user's profile used for targeting content and managing group membership.
Profile Menu
The profile menu is the menu accessed via a user's avatar that provides access to profile settings, preferences, and sign-out.

Quiz Calendar
Quiz calendar is a feature that delivers quizzes to employees to drive engagement.
Quiz Calendar Editor
A quiz calendar editor is a plugin-specific role that can edit, publish, and manage content for a specific Quiz Calendar plugin instance.

Reach
Reach is the ratio of potential visitors to actual visitors for a news post. 40 viewers out of 80 potential = 50% reach.
Reactions
Reactions are the number of reactions a news post has received. Every reaction type is counted separately: Like, Celebrate, Support, Insightful, Thanks. A user can only react once per news post and choose one reaction.
Recipients
Recipients are the number of unique users who were sent at least one email in the selected period of time.
Registered User
A registered user is a user who has created an account on the App or Intranet.
Repeat clicks
Repeat clicks are the number of times a link was clicked in total by a specific recipient.
Repeat opens
Repeat opens are the number of times a link was opened in total by a specific recipient.

Screens
Screens is a feature for displaying news and other content on digital signage screens.
Sent Emails
Sent emails are the total number of emails sent in the selected period of time.
Shares
Shares are the number of times a news post was shared. Every share is counted (e.g., one Facebook share plus two email shares equals three shares).
Space
A space is a self-contained area of the platform with its own content, administrators, and audience, used in distributed or multi-brand setups.
Space Administrator
Space administrator is a user role that has full administration rights for their space only.
Studio
The studio is the main area for platform setup, creation, and maintenance. It is available for all Staffbase products, and the different user roles determine what is visible and modifiable to individual users.
Studio User
Studio user is a user role in Staffbase Email with access to the Studio who can perform actions based on their rights.
Surveys
Surveys is a feature for creating, distributing, and analyzing employee feedback questionnaires.
Survey Editor
A survey editor is a user role that can configure questions and publish content for a specific survey.
System-wide Editor
System-wide editor is a user role that can access and adjust content across the platform.

Template Administrator
Template administrator is a user role in Staffbase Email who can manage administrative tasks for a specific template.
Top Links
Top links are the percentage of unique clicks on a specific link, out of the number of opens.
Top Navigation
The top navigation is the horizontal menu bar at the top of the App and Intranet that contains the main navigation elements.
Total clicks
Total clicks are the number of times a link in the email was clicked, including repeated and unique clicks.
Total opens
Total opens are the number of times the email was opened, including repeated and unique opens.
Total Video Views
Total video views are all video views combined — views from the newsfeed and views from inside the opened news post.
Total Views
Total views are the total number of times a page was viewed or accessed. Repeat views by the same user are each counted.
Total Visitors
Total visitors are the number of unique users who visited a page. Multiple visits by the same user count as one visitor.
Traffic Sources
Traffic sources show how a user navigated to a specific news post or piece of content. Every click from a specific traffic source is counted.
Trash
Trash is the area where deleted content is temporarily stored before permanent deletion, allowing users to restore items if needed.
U
Unique clicks
Unique clicks are the number of times a link was clicked for the first time by a specific recipient.
Unique opens
Unique opens are the number of times the email was opened for the first time by a specific recipient.
Unregistered User
An unregistered user is a user without an account on the App or Intranet. Unregistered users can only access content in the public area.
User Groups
User groups are collections of users grouped by shared attributes used for targeting content and managing permissions.
User Management
User management is an area in the Studio where administrators add, edit, and manage individual users, user groups, and profile fields.
User Profile
The user profile an area in the App or Intranet displaying a user's personal information, role, and profile field values.
User View
The user view is the area of the App or Intranet that the users see, without any access to the Studio.
Username
The username is the unique identifier a user enters to log in to the Staffbase App or Intranet.
V
Video Subtitles
Video subtitles are AI-powered text captions added to video content to improve accessibility and viewer comprehension.
Video Views Directly From Newsfeed
Video views directly from newsfeed are counted when a user plays a teaser video directly in the newsfeed, without opening the news post (applies to posts with a teaser video, such as articles and media posts).
Visibility
Visibility is the percentage of users in the entire campaign audience who viewed at least one post in the campaign.
Visit (Total Visits)
A Visit (Total Visit) is a count of how many times a post, page, or other content type was viewed or accessed. Repeat visits by the same user are each counted.
Visitor
A visitor is a unique user who has visited a news post, page, or other content type. Multiple visits by the same user count as one visitor.

Widget
A widget is a web component that adds a specific content block to pages and news posts, acting as a design element in the editor. Staffbase offers standard widgets, third-party integration widgets, and supports custom-built widgets for specific business use cases.
