In the global chat, we distinguish between two types of chats: 1:1 chats and conversations with multiple users. You need to consider various factors when creating them.
An overview of the topics covered in this article:
- Starting chats with users (single chats)
- Starting conversations with users (group chats)
- Settings within conversations

The global chat allows you to start 1-on-1 conversations with your colleagues.
-

-
Select the user with whom you want to open a chat.
-
Once a user is selected, the start button at the bottom of the window turns blue. Click on it to open the chat.
-
Now, you may communicate within the global chat of Communications Control.
Starting Conversations with Colleagues (Group Chats)
To discuss a topic with several users at the same time, you can start a conversation.
-
Click on the chat icon in the menu bar of the global chat.
-
Select all users that should be part of the conversation. Optionally, you can enter a name for your conversation. After you have filled in the fields, click the Start button.
-
The newly created conversation opens, and you can start chatting with the users.
Information and Settings Within Conversations
By clicking on the three-dot menu at the top right of the group name, you can access the group information.
Here, you can add a group description, view the sent files and the group members. By clicking on the three-dot menu to the right of each user, you can make them an admin of the chat or remove them from the chat. Chat admins can customize the group description, add or remove members, and make them admins themselves.
You can have a look at the group description and add more users to your conversation by clicking on the pencil next to the group name. For the second case, a list with all members of your team opens, from which you can select as many people as you like. Selected people will be marked with a pink checkmark and are automatically added to the group.
If you are a member of multiple teams in Communications Control, please note that we can not offer cross-team chat for privacy reasons.
